Our project, defined as the “Living Machine,” offers a dynamic social life experience through the integrated operation of communal and individual spaces. The design emphasizes functional use within the residential units while fostering a sense of community through carefully planned social areas situated between these units. The podium and rooftop areas collectively contribute to a holistic social environment, offering diverse communal spaces while maintaining circulation routes that respect the privacy of residents. The portico area on the ground floor serves as a seamless transition between the outdoor environment and the podium level, highlighting the project’s linear organization. This design element not only guides movement but also creates an inviting entrance that encourages interaction. Continuing this concept vertically, the gallery spaces on the upper floors facilitate controlled horizontal circulation, effectively connecting the residential units while preserving individual privacy. To respond to the specific environmental conditions of the site, two distinct facade systems were implemented on the north and south elevations. On the south facade, adjustable sunshade systems allow the building envelope to adapt to seasonal changes, optimizing natural light and thermal comfort throughout the year. In contrast, the north facade features a double-layered facade system designed to enhance insulation and energy efficiency, addressing the cooler and less sun-exposed orientation.
