The theme word chosen for the design was “Adaptation.” Inspiration was drawn from the artwork Woman Lying Down 1967 by Nurullah Berk. During research on the artwork, it was discovered that “figurative subjectivity” was employed in his pieces. The idea of abstraction, based on a realistic concept, object, or figure, was captured, and the concept of adaptation was intended to be reflected through the balanced flow and circularity of the woman’s body.
An axis, featuring an achromatic color scheme in various rotations, was incorporated. The color transition is perceived differently from various perspectives of the design. Circular volumetric pieces, reflecting growth, were included, with variations changing across the groups. Circular volumes are connected edge to edge with the main axis, while triangular volumes are rotated differently. Various surfaces, including linear, textured, and semi-open spaces, were utilized, creating triangular beginnings for the group of variations within the design. The concept of adaptation is sufficiently emphasized through the derived volumetric transitions and textures, balanced with the chosen colors.
