Fragmented Threads

The Ankara Mebusevleri project is designed as a tailor’s home combined with a rental sewing workshop, based on the idea of “fragmented attachment.” Inspired by sewing techniques, it highlights themes of separation, connection, and patchwork. This is shown in the layout, where different areas are joined by “stitch-like” features such as stairs, pergolas, courtyards, sunblockers, and textured surfaces. The placement of the volumes was planned using shadow density analysis to balance light and privacy. The materials have a raw, industrial look with simple textures, colors, and transparencies. The fragmented design creates a mix of open and closed spaces, with courtyards allowing smooth circulation between private and shared areas.
