A Little Break

In this project, the concept of “openness” has been explored within a dense and enclosed urban area, without alienating the new structure from it’s context. It is interpreted by creating an open space within the building area and using the surrounding buildings as an outer shell to conceal this open space. It connects what is permanent and what is temporary in means of use and provides different spaces to it’s user.

The design incorporates “tearing away” certain sections to invite users to explore. It prioritizes user circulation by integrating various interconnected spaces into a cohesive whole. Also works the ‘outer shell’ as variety of buildings to have a more coherent presence within the context.
