Stone Carving and Aquatic Life Research Center

Porsuk stream is an important element of Eskişehir. Unfortunately, Porsuk stream has been in danger of pollution for years. The place  aims to carry out studies to eliminate the pollution of the Porsuk Stream by utilizing the local handicraft which is meerschaum carving. The meerschaum sculptures created by this handicraft are exhibited in aquariums. Since meerschaum is also a limestone, it makes it easier to observe the current ecosystem around it when placed in water. Taking advantage of the verticality of such aquariums, exhibition areas and meerschaum workshops are located on the lower floors, and research laboratories defined by experimental water gardens are located on the upper floors. Vertical aquariums also regulate basic design decisions such as use of light and the comfort of the creatures in the aquarium.
