Vital Connect

The thesis explores a transformative approach to urban design, focusing on its application in Fikirtepe, Istanbul. Istanbul’s urban landscape, characterized by rapid development, population growth, and seismic risks, makes Fikirtepe allow for opportunities for innovative interventions. This 130,000-square-meter project is designed as a multifunctional urban oasis, serving as a green refuge with social interaction, education, and cultural activities while being equipped to transform into a disaster relief zone during an earthquake. The design philosophy is to create a versatile and resilient urban space that meets the community’s daily needs while being prepared for emergencies. Integrating green spaces with social, educational, and cultural facilities promotes a sustainable and vibrant urban life.
