The design of science museums, which explore and exhibit how the understanding of science and technology has changed over the centuries, can be considered as an experimental process in which architects can highlight their creative ideas. The form, material, and spatial diversity offered by the museums opened in recent years are the indicators of this situation.

Biography:

Prof. Dr. Ayşen Savaş after completing her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at METU and London Bartlett Architecture Schools, Ayşen Savaş received her Ph.D. degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) History, Theory and Criticism Program. As part of her expertise in museum science and museology, she founded and managed the design stages of many museums, including the Sabancı Museum, MKEK Industry Museum, and Erimtan Archaeology Museum. In addition to her contributions to cultural institutions such as ICOM and Sanart, her achievements include the AIA Architectural Award, AAUW Research Award, Schlossman History Research Award, Sir John Soane Museum, CCA and University of Bologna scholarships, and the “Keeping it Modern Project” Getty Award. Currently, she continues her research on Modern Campuses at the Netherlands Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). Besides her architectural design courses, she teaches different architectural communication environments such as perspective, models, digital modeling, and photography, particularly focusing on representation theories.
