The presentation by Matthieu Joseph Pedergnana will show how students and volunteers were involved in doing different experimental works of earth and straw through hands-on classes and workshops and how this work finally led to the realization of permanent ecological houses.

Biography:

Matthieu is an architect who graduated from the department of sustainable construction in Lyon in 2010. After several years of voluntary on-site work on ecological building, he is now finishing a PhD in METU, as well as teaching construction material at Yaşar University and advising architects on the usage of natural building techniques. He has led several workshops and taught in hands-on courses to raise awareness about the advantages of natural materials and designed and built several experimental buildings and permanent houses using these materials in Turkey.
