Remembering, Forgetting and Imagination: Basmane Pit and Kültürpark as a Landscape of Memory

Kültürpark housed international fairs and influenced society culturally and economically. Currently, interventions planned for the exhibition halls and the sports centre of the park might harm its fabric. Basmane Pit is an idle site filled with water and wild vegetation due to a stopped project. The proposal recreates the landscape referencing layers of the time while looking toward its future. The Basmane Pit is united with the fairgrounds, and a proposed museum terminates the extended landscape. It will showcase the fragments of the memory. Spaces for exhibitions and public activities will emerge from the landscape instead of the halls.
