The project aims to create a commercial space in Gioia del Colle, Italy, that offers a social gathering space on the other side of the railway. It is inspired by Ancient Roman Forums and their mutual quality of its functions. The design has a mutual loop of functions, and these spaces share mutual stone walls in between. The selection of limestone from the karstic plateau “Murge” for shared walls was made to reflect the historical castle in the city center, while the rest of the design has a modern look that unites the new and old.
