This talk draws its inspiration from Yemisci’s experience as a natural builder and her ongoing master’s thesis research. The presentation contemplates how the co-living concept, the notions of rural and sustainability correlate to one another; and it is envisaged from an ecocentric perspective. The lecture aims to convey that there are conflicting perspectives within the sustainability paradigm and reveals the difference between ecocentric and technocentric views where the former is often overshadowed by the latter due to manifold of reasons. Then, the presentation briefly introduces some key concepts, architects, and projects which constitute the ecocentrism discourse, followed by detailed explanations of some natural building techniques. The lecture is assisted with examples from the world
as well as some projects in which Yemisci participated.
