This lecture aims to illuminate the background, process and outcomes of Dr. Chiu Chen-Yu’s PhD thesis – Utzon’s China, The Reinterpretation of Traditional Chinese Art and Architecture in the Work of Jørn Utzon (1918-2008), undertaken at the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning, The University of Melbourne, Australia.

Biography:

Chiu Chen-Yu, graduated from Chung Yuan Christian University, Taiwan in 2002 with a Bachelor of Architecture. He achieved a Masters degree at Columbia University in 2005 and received his PhD at The University of Melbourne in 2011. Since 2013, he has worked as a Post-Doctoral researcher and lecturer at Aalto University in Helsinki.
