Walls of the City-Visitor Center in Amasra

Amasra comes to the forefront with its fishing and maritime culture which I aimed to emphasize in my design. In order to accomplish my aim I created an artificial shoreline with platforms and manipulated the topography; as such one of my design elements have become the sea. Then I separated my buildings and tried to create an interpretation of the site holistically in which the experience would not be confined to a single building but could be achieved through mowing along the platforms in between the buildings, providing different view angles and vignettes of the town, the high cliffs and the sea. While deciding on all these angles, I made use of my natural stone-coated shear walls. First, I placed these walls, and thanks to them, the design emerged itself.
