Faculty Positions in Design and Building Science
Department of Architecture at Bilkent University (BUDA) invites applications for full-time, 12-month appointments at the rank of all levels (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor) starting as early as Spring 2024 semester. We seek to hire both for research and practice-based positions. Positions are open until they are filled.

Department of Architecture comprises faculty members from different research backgrounds such as, history and theory of architecture, archeology, computational design, architectural engineering, acoustics, etc. The aim of Department of Architecture is to graduate students with architectural skills that will enable them to practice around the world. Design studios rest at the core of the architectural curriculum, supported by courses on a wide variety of topics, such as energy efficiency, environmental concerns, sustainability, construction and preservation of historical heritage. Faculty members are expected to engage in creative teaching, scholarly research, and service to the department. Faculty Positions in Design and Building Science:
The successful candidate is expected to teach one architectural design studio at the undergraduate level, and a lecture course with a focus on the candidate’s areas of knowledge and expertise, such as:
– Building construction and materials
– Building systems and environmental technology
– Computer applications, digital design and computation
– Structural design and building physics
– Sustainability and sustainable design
The successful candidates are expected to pursue their ongoing research agenda. They are strongly encouraged to utilize innovative tools, techniques and theories and creatively contribute to the academia, with valuable and unique work that will be internationally peer-reviewed, published and appreciated. In addition, the successful candidates will be expected to serve to the department and to the university.
Qualifications for research based positions:
1. Ph.D. degree in architecture or related fields
2. Strong research experience and future potential
3. Publication record or potential in indexed journals
Qualifications for practice-based positions:
1. Ph.D. degree in architecture or related fields is preferred
2. Strong portfolio
3.Works published in journals (optional)
Compensations: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
