Located in Famagusta, the Museum of Traces reconnects the ruined St. George Church of the Greeks with the archaeological landscape of Salamis through a sensory exhibition experience. Visitors enter through the preserved church and circulate within and around the ruin before continuing along sensory exhibition decks leading to restoration and storage exhibition for Salamis’ archaeological remains. A gallery void, circulation cores, and viewing platforms reveal the conservation process while linking the contemporary extension with the historic fabric. Through adaptive reuse, the project transforms the church into an experiential museum where architecture, archaeology, and preservation converge to reveal the layered history of Famagusta.
