Famagusta Groundworks is a multidisciplinary complex which helps reconnect archeological findings from the neighboring excavation sites with heritage led research for future innovations. Bringing together students, archaeologists, historians, conservators, and renovators, the project creates a platform where knowledge of the past aids the future development of Famagusta. The three buildings, each with their separate function to aid these goals, circle a central sunken garden which allows the buildings to have separate entrances from different levels, preserving the low silhouette of Famagusta. The buildings incorporate sunken gardens and interconnected spaces, supporting natural light and ventilation for each area. Perforated brick is used as a double skin façade, filtering out the low angled sun and improving environmental comfort.
