Typologies of Bergama

The aim is to pedestrianize “Kınık Street” using the Bergama typology archive and to add a new layer to Bergama’s multi-layered space by creating a backbone that organizes the spaces. Different typologies from different periods in Bergama have been analyzed, and architectural grafting methods capable of interpreting these typologies have been developed. During the design process, spaces were created using these methods by directly intervening in the structures around Kınık Street. In addition, the project focuses on the empowerment of women and local handicrafts, especially Bergama carpets. Under the leadership of Kadriye Yaşar, the Social Center emphasizes the cultural value of carpet and knitting art.
