Re-touch, in its essence, is to make small changes to adapt, optimize and arrange for better versions of the material in hand. With this idea in mind, this project re-touches Bergama without over-powering the existing but higlighting their values. Grafting new layers to a multi-layered context through manipulation of the topography allowed welcoming slopes and enjoyable landscape leading towards the design. Accommodation units, seminar hall, workshop ateliers, cafes and an exhibition hall is provided both through additional buildings and re-using the Yıldız Terminal’s interior with reinforcing the existing layout. Surrounded by the history of Bergama with enchanting ruins of the Red Hall, this proposal suggests a public node to discover, produce and share.
