North Jakarta Water Resilience Hub

This project addresses North Jakarta’s severe land subsidence and water crisis by proposing an adaptive infrastructure zone at Muara Baru. Positioned between informal settlements and the planned Great Garuda Sea Wall, the project integrates a desalination plant, wastewater treatment facility, and a community-based research center. It provides a sustainable alternative to groundwater extraction, mitigating further sinking. Integrating public space, ecological restoration, and research functions, the project reimagines urban infrastructure as an agent of resilience in the face of rising seas and socio-environmental fragmentation. The design promotes environmental education, public engagement, and ecological regeneration through wetlands and rainwater harvesting systems.
