EAST HARBOUR ZIP EXPLANATION

“East Harbour ZIP” reimagines Frankfurt’s Osthafen, once an industrial hub producing raw materials, into an engine of cultural, social, and intellectual production. Addressing migration-related fragmentation and brain drain, the project transforms this strategic zone—located between Offenbach’s dense migrant population and Frankfurt’s gentrified city center—into a space of opportunity for both locals and nonlocals. Through the “ZIP” concept, it stitches together divided urban fabrics via production circles fostering innovation, creativity, human connection, and knowledge. Former industrial grounds now host cultural nodes, social factories, and knowledge hubs—producing not goods, but ideas, art, and community—marking a shift from industrial economy to inclusive urban regeneration.
