The Loom

Rooted in the rich weaving traditions of Turkish culture, this project reinterprets weaving as a spatial and social practice. Located in Eryaman, where Ankara sof weaving once flourished, the design blends historical memory with contemporary needs. It accommodates elderly residences, community areas, and lifelong‐learning facilities—brought together under a unifying loom structure that forms the building’s skin. Just as every thread contributes to a carpet’s narrative, each space engages in dialogue through its circulation paths, bridging cultures and generations. The architecture itself becomes a tactile weave of care, memory, learning, and community.
