Arts and Crafts Institute

The Arts and Crafts Institute is located in Adana’s historic core, near the Clock Tower, where its presence generates physical and emotional tension. This tension is distributed and balanced by wind catchers, which not only provide passive ventilation but also define vertical voids at key intersections, creating atrium spaces and enhancing interior spatial depth. The project sits at the breaking point of the Arasta’s strict orthogonal grid and a new angular grid system. Responding to both, the building integrates and transforms these geometries. Its angular massings and façades emphasize this duality, expressing a dialogue between tradition and contemporary reinterpretation.
