An Embassy Residence in Ankara: Home on Another Land

The aim of this project is to design an embassy residence for the Moroccan ambassador, their family, staff, and anticipated event guests. The governing concept for the residence was inspired by the meticulous approach Moroccan tile artists take in crafting their tiles. At the heart of the project is the octagonal courtyard, reminiscent of traditional references. The courtyard serves as the project’s focal point, with forms and functions thoughtfully organized around it using a grid.

The elevated courtyard serves a dual purpose: it ensures privacy for the residents while preserving uninterrupted views of Kuğulu Park and Atatürk Boulevard. This elevation also divides the project’s functions into the residential area and the multifunctional hall.
