Korykos 2.0: Re-Interpretıng the Coastlıne of Kızkalesı Area

This project focuses on the Kızkalesi (Maiden Castle) Area in Mersin, Turkey. The multi-layered site has been a center of trade and tourism throughout the centuries. However, rapid and unorganized construction has negatively impacted the area’s contemporary significance, resulting in issues such as user profile imbalances, demographic fluctuations between seasons, and other adverse effects on the environment, economy, and cultural traditions. Therefore, this project aims to re-integrate local users with the existing tourist population on the site and offer sustainable solutions to address the defined problems. It interprets the coastline with a perspective that considers both the past and future of the urban and building scale, seeking to provide a cohesive and balanced approach.
