Dr. Carolina Espinoza Sanhueza received her Ph.D. from Université Laval (Canada) in 2024. She is an architect, researcher, and educator specializing in building environmental quality, with research focusing on daylighting, lighting, colour, climate-responsive architecture, thermal comfort, and indoor air quality. Her work explores how environmental design influences occupants’ comfort and well-being, combining building science with immersive visualization techniques to evaluate both qualitative and quantitative aspects of light. She has contributed to several externally funded research projects on healthy indoor environments, biophilic design, and community resilience, supported by organizations including the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and the Sentinel North program. Before joining Bilkent University, she held postdoctoral research positions at Toronto Metropolitan University and Université Laval, and taught in the graduate program at Universidad del Bío-Bío in Chile.
