Hip-hop culture was the primary theme chosen for the summer camp project. Its history was explored, leading to a concept centred on the terms ‘intersection’ and ‘reuse’. Reuse reflects the origins of hip-hop, which involved gathering and modifying existing elements. This inspired the inclusion of the topography’s existing staircases in the design. The idea of intersection comes from breakdance, which developed during the rhythmic “breaks” produced by DJs. This dynamic interaction between dance and rap was translated into the spatial connections shaped by the natural slope and allowances of the topography.
