Our senior student, \u00d6mer Bahad\u0131r Torusda\u011f was awarded the equivalent mention prize in Together in Public Spaces, organized by the Cement Employers’ Association (\u00c7E\u0130S) to enhance the aesthetic and innovative use of cement. This year, under the theme of “Together in Public Spaces,” aiming to highlight designs that contribute to public welfare, a total of 139 projects were submitted across student and professional categories. Following the evaluations by the jury members, 14 projects were recognized with awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The explanation of the project is as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The “Esnek Beton” design consists of four modules with different functions and forms. These modules are children’s playground, indoor recreation& work area, gathering& activity area, and exhibition area. These modules can combine to create eight variations for different uses. Passages in the design provide exciting and dynamic routes for users passing through the square. Besides, thanks to these openings, the city square can continue to exist without losing its integrity. The indoor recreation& work area serves the people in the square, with tables and seating created as an extension of the structure. In addition, a slide was created as an extension of the building in the children’s playground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concrete types are transparent concrete, used to allow light to penetrate the closed structure; luminescent concrete, known for its ability to shine in the evening; and standard concrete. While three of the four modules are produced using 3D printer machine technology with supports where necessary, the other module is produced by spraying concrete on the inflated membrane to form a thin layer using the steel-supported structure. It becomes environmentally friendly by producing concrete from recycled waste materials and ashes. Self-healing concrete has been used to extend its lifespan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
