Bilkent University, being the first private, nonprofit university in Turkey, was founded in 1984 with the fundamental aim of creating a center of excellence in higher education and research. The medium of education is English. Bilkent University has faculty from over 40 different countries. Bilkent boasts of being a research-based university, ranking high globally and nationally in the rankings of scholarly publications. Department of Architecture comprises faculty members from different research backgrounds such as, history and theory of architecture, archeology, computational design, architectural engineering, acoustics, etc. The aim of Department of Architecture is to graduate students with architectural skills that will enable them to practice around the world. Design studios rest at the core of the architectural curriculum, supported by courses on a wide variety of topics, such as energy efficiency, environmental concerns, sustainability, construction and preservation of historical heritage. Faculty members are expected to engage in creative teaching, scholarly research, and service to the department.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
