Architecture is a discipline that integrates art and technology. Architects are responsible for shaping the built environment around us. Buildings that are integral parts of our lives, such as houses, schools, hotels, hospitals, offices, sports centers and malls are all designed by architects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The emergence of architecture as a distinguished discipline dates back to antiquity, when many monuments and public buildings were constructed. The occupation of an architect as a ‘designer and builder’ is first discussed by the Roman architect Vitruvius in one of the earliest treatises on architecture in the first century B.C. Since ancient times, architectural culture has guided arts and society and created significant movements that shaped different ages. Similarly, today’s architectural designs will shape our daily environment and act as representatives of our times. The criteria for architectural education are determined with the understanding of this important role and social impact of the profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of Bilkent University’s Department of Architecture is to graduate students with architectural skills that will enable them to practice all around the world. Design studios rest at the curriculum’s core. Starting from the first year, students participate in the enjoyable learning experience of the design studio through projects undertaken either individually or in groups. In the second year, design studios are carried out in collaboration with other departments of the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture. This collaboration introduces architectural students to the concepts of interiors, environmental design, urban design, and landscape architecture. The following third and fourth year studios allow students to specialize in various areas of architecture. The architectural curriculum comprises courses in mathematics, physics, arts and culture. Also, the courses within the curriculum put emphasis on issues of energy efficiency, environmental concerns, sustainability, and preservation of historical heritage. Students are prepared for future professional life through summer practices held in offices and construction sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graduates of Bilkent University, Department of Architecture, shall have adequate formation that allows them to be employed in local and international architectural offices and related government branches. They can also establish their own practices. The ever-growing nature of the construction sector paves way for young architects to have business opportunities. The graduates of this department who choose to pursue their education through graduate studies will aim at well-known universities around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mimarl\u0131k, sanat ile teknolojinin i\u00e7 i\u00e7e oldu\u011fu bir meslektir. \u00c7evremizdeki her t\u00fcrl\u00fc yap\u0131ya mimarlar hayat verir. Ya\u015fant\u0131m\u0131zla b\u00fct\u00fcnle\u015fmi\u015f konut, okul, hastane, otel, spor tesisi, i\u015f ve al\u0131\u015fveri\u015f merkezi gibi mekanlar mimarlar\u0131n eseridir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mimarl\u0131\u011f\u0131n \u00f6z\u00fcn\u00fc olu\u015fturan mekan tasarlama ve in\u015fa etme eylemi insanlar\u0131n yerle\u015fik ya\u015fam d\u00fczenine ge\u00e7tikleri \u00f6n \u00e7a\u011flara dek uzan\u0131r. Mimarl\u0131k, pek \u00e7ok an\u0131tsal ve kamusal yap\u0131n\u0131n \u00fcretildi\u011fi M\u0131s\u0131r ve Mezopotamya uygarl\u0131klar\u0131nda, ilk kez se\u00e7kin bir meslek olarak varl\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 ortaya koymu\u015ftur. Mimar sadece ‘in\u015fa eden’ de\u011fil, ‘tasarlayan ve in\u015fa eden’ kimli\u011fiyle \u00f6ne \u00e7\u0131km\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Milattan \u00f6nce birinci y\u00fczy\u0131lda yaz\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fclen ilk bilimsel mimari inceleme, bir mimari yap\u0131n\u0131n kullan\u0131\u015fl\u0131, estetik ve sa\u011flam olmas\u0131 gerekti\u011fini savunan Roma d\u00f6nemi mimar\u0131 Vitruvius’a aittir. Antik \u00e7a\u011flardan bug\u00fcne, mimarl\u0131k k\u00fclt\u00fcr\u00fc tarihin her d\u00f6neminde sanata y\u00f6n vermi\u015f, \u00e7a\u011f\u0131 bi\u00e7imlendiren \u00f6nemli ak\u0131mlar yaratm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcz\u00fcn \u00f6zg\u00fcn mimari tasar\u0131mlar\u0131 da gelecek nesiller i\u00e7in, 21. y\u00fczy\u0131l\u0131n etkin ve kal\u0131c\u0131 temsilcileri olacakt\u0131r. \u00d6nemli bir toplumsal role sahip olan mimarl\u0131k mesle\u011fi, bu sorumluluk ve bilin\u00e7 ile e\u011fitim kriterlerini belirler. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bilkent \u00dcniversitesi Mimarl\u0131k B\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fc, mimarl\u0131k mesle\u011fini d\u00fcnyan\u0131n her yerinde yapabilecek mezunlar vermeyi hedeflemektedir. E\u011fitim program\u0131n\u0131n merkezinde tasar\u0131m st\u00fcdyolar\u0131 yer al\u0131r. Birinci s\u0131n\u0131fta ba\u015flayan st\u00fcdyo deneyimi, hem bireysel projelere hem tak\u0131m \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmas\u0131na y\u00f6nelik zevkli bir \u00f6\u011frenme s\u00fcreci sa\u011flar. \u0130kinci y\u0131l st\u00fcdyolar\u0131, G\u00fczel Sanatlar, Tasar\u0131m ve Mimarl\u0131k Fak\u00fcltesi’nin di\u011fer b\u00f6l\u00fcmleri ile i\u015fbirli\u011fi i\u00e7inde y\u00fcr\u00fct\u00fcl\u00fcr. Bu i\u015fbirli\u011fi, \u00f6\u011frencileri i\u00e7 mimarl\u0131k, \u00e7evre tasar\u0131m\u0131, kentsel tasar\u0131m ve peyzaj mimarl\u0131\u011f\u0131 kavramlar\u0131 ile tan\u0131\u015ft\u0131racakt\u0131r. \u00dc\u00e7\u00fcnc\u00fc ve d\u00f6rd\u00fcnc\u00fc s\u0131n\u0131f st\u00fcdyolar\u0131 ise \u00f6\u011frencilerin alanlar\u0131ndaki farkl\u0131 konularda uzmanla\u015fmas\u0131n\u0131 ama\u00e7lar. B\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcn e\u011fitim program\u0131nda matematik, fizik, sanat ve k\u00fclt\u00fcr i\u00e7erikli dersler de bulunmaktad\u0131r. Enerji verimlili\u011fi, \u00e7evre duyarl\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131 ve tarihsel yap\u0131lar\u0131n korunmas\u0131, programda vurgulanan di\u011fer \u00f6nemli konulard\u0131r. \u00d6\u011frenciler, kariyerlerine ofis ve saha stajlar\u0131yla da haz\u0131rlanacakt\u0131r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bu b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcn \u00f6\u011frencileri yurti\u00e7i ve yurtd\u0131\u015f\u0131ndaki mimarl\u0131k ofislerinde, kamu kurumlar\u0131n\u0131n ilgili birimlerinde veya kendi kuracaklar\u0131 b\u00fcrolarda \u00e7al\u0131\u015fabilecek bir altyap\u0131yla diploma alacakt\u0131r. Her ge\u00e7en g\u00fcn geli\u015fen in\u015faat sekt\u00f6r\u00fc de gen\u00e7 mimarlara geni\u015f i\u015f alanlar\u0131 yaratmaktad\u0131r. Lisans\u00fcst\u00fc e\u011fitimi tercih eden mezunlar ise d\u00fcnyan\u0131n \u00f6nde gelen \u00fcniversitelerini hedefleyecektir.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
