Dated to the 1st century BC, the monumental Doric bulding in Hierapolis was destroyed by one of the earthquakes that affected the area. The building was excavated by an Italian archaeological team who studied the area between 1993 and 1998. The main activities in the restoration were finding the fragments of the columns and architraves in order to reconstruct the single elements and then the whole monument.
